More like it Newcastle are thought to be weighing up a £7 million bid for Smith, as they look for a strike partner for Alan Shearer. Magpies boss Graeme Souness is in the market for a new striker, with Craig Bellamy set to be offloaded and Patrick Kluivert leaving at the end of last season before heading to Spanish outfit Valencia. Souness is a big fan of Smith and would love to team him up with Shearer, but the England international has always pledged to stay at United and fight for his place, despite failing to hold down a regular place in the side.

I wouldn't mind him. We're going to be left with fuck all. Shearer is too old, still do an ok job, but he'll be lucky to get over 10 goals. Chopra isn't a Prem striker, and Shola is just shit. We've got fuck all in the reserves. They've let them all go. We need at least 2 strikers!
But everton can only pay 10p a week in wages, they keep goign after peopel and the deal always falls through on personal terms
