    mmmmm......

I think this really sums it all up. Pity we can't write it in letters three miles high and project it into the sky over every city in ENGLAND! Whilst it still is England. After hearing that many cities did not want to offend other cultures by putting up Xmas lights, so DIDN'T! After hearing that the Birmingham council changed its opinion and let a Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's licence with her face covered. After hearing of a Primary School in Birmingham where a boy was told that for PE they could wear Football League shirts (Aston Villa, Birmingham, West Brom etc) but NOT an England shirt as it could offend others ! This prompted the editorial below written by a UK citizen. Published in a British tabloid newspaper. IMMIGRANTS. NOT BRITONS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on London, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Brits. However, the dust from the attacks has barely settled and the "politically correct" crowd begin complaining about the possibility that our patriotism is offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Britain. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of London being a multicultural centre for community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britons, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of wars, struggles, trials and victories fought by the untold masses of men and women who laid down their lives and one of the millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our National Motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If St. George's cross offends you, or you don't like " A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our National Motto, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great British freedom, "THE RIGHT TO LEAVE". If you aren't happy here then P*** OFF! We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted. Pretty easy really, when you think about it. I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets all try, please.

Alexander didnt write that . He cut and pasted it ;)

Anyways - how much of this relgion/culture 'them and us' actually exists in our day to day lives?

Sure the media make it look like the country has been split in two recently, like the country has errupted into civil war - and you cant turn the tv on without some kind of story of veils and whatnot. How bad is it tho?

Sorry, but on my trips to newcastle, you might see one non white face for every 100-200 white people - how much of a problem do you have?

London is the most culturally diverse place in the whole country but hey guess what, people just get on with their lives .... much like after the bombings - while the rest of britain keeps wringing its hands about problems that dont even affect it.

I know, it was originally a rant from an Australian (politician maybe?) about their country, as far as I'm aware.

Even though alex just pasted that, it's the most contrived, cliche load of shit I've read today. Could almost predict the next line.

The majority of our country are from immigrant bloodlines going back hundreds of years and "political correctness" is something peddled only by "I'm not racist but" types. None of us have fought in worthwhile wars, founded countries or developed languages and it's possible your ancestors didn't either. Slightly ironic that was written under the slogan of "freedom". God forbid people might be different.

I just don't see why people worry their little heads about it - who cares if people are communicating in different languages, do we all speak the language when we frequently holiday to other countries? Do these sickos that dress different and speak in different languages actually impede other peoples lives or do they just disgust them?

Innit - patriotism is fucking cheesy, who wants to be united with a bunch of scallies and beer boy bellends anyway? When I walk through byker on my way to work at night it's young pastie british pikeys I see causing trouble not polish migrants and nigerians.

I agree with Brid and Rossy. "Patriotism" is often used as a veil for racism. ;)

How many of those who claim to be deeply patriotic know more than one verse of the National Anthem, or how many verses there even are, how many actually celebrate St Georges Day? I'm guessing not a lot, but many quite gladly go out and get plastered on St Patrick's Day

As a whole we are spoon fed out opinions from our choice of media

As is apparent by the way people come out with the same stuff every single time. "pc do gooders" or "politically correct crowd" is such a cringeworthy thing to say.

What bollocks, the worst problems are in the likes of Halifax, Burnley, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester etc.

I believe they're somewhere north of Watford ;)

In regards the original post, I wholeheartedly agree with Rossy, if you pick it apart it doesn't have a scrap of substance, if there was a valid argument for anything in there it might be worth commenting on..

I'm against veils and in favour of increased societal integration, but this pile of crap was written for simple minded, easily led proles, not much of a suprise given who posted it really....

....oh and 'In god we trust'? the author must have suffered that much a loss of identity after last July, that he became American... try 'Dieu et Mon droit'.

In the main part Im not so sure if it is them kicking up the fuss, or certain politicians or whatever? I couldnt imagine an immigrant child complaining to a teacher because an english kid is wearing an england top.

I think you'd already answered that one yourself.
