as soon as kudos / ricky rodal had featured on a ministry of sound lineup i knew its days were numbered mind you this smells of backhanders all round would people be sad to see the ministry of sound brand go the rampant commercialism of its marketing is so removed from what house music originally was irrespective of the number of jobs they have created.
Seen this crop up again on the MH forum a few days ago. The petition is about 18 months old now mate? http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/news/20100223_ministryofsound.shtml
It's a pretty good club, the crowd is a bit strange though. When I went for Sasha I was a little bit (quite a bit) too fucked on 2c-b and suddenly became aware enough to pose myself the question "what the fuck am I doing at The Arches, in Glasgow, by myself, and surrounded by gay charvers doing strange dances to quite comical trance music. And what the fuck have I been doing for the past few hours". I eventually found Miller who was equally puzzled by the number of sketchy gay charvers but informed me that I was actually at Ministry of Sound in London. It was at that point that we decided that we had to leave, now. But then we had to find Brid and that took fucking ages. Not the best way to find your mates when your vision is awash with swirling colours. I was probably the strangest character in there really.
Haha. I remember that night .... which carried on a similar vein back at the hotel where reality itself came under increasing question. I've been to the Ministry a load of times now, i really quite like it although it suffers from the same problem alot of the big clubs in London all have, which is just shitloads of foreigners who can't speak english, or just look (and make you feel) out of place somewhat. On the FLIP side, i would say that London clubbers are alot more friendly once you find ones which can talk the language, and i've had MANY MANY buckled chats and ended up back at afterparties after only meeting strangers five minutes previously. There is VERY little point going when anyone huge is on (Sasha being the number 1). In fact it's the best time NOT to go. Line ups that fly under the radar has almost always been much more enjoyable every time i have been. That club going, would be a catastrophy. Its iconic, and continues to be.
