midi controllers ? can anyone suggest a decent and cheap-ish one ? im going to buy my dads laptop off him after christmas and wouldnt mind a midi to fuck about on as well.... grassy-arse in advance
there isnt a 'best choice' for midi controllers - what are you planning on doing with it? what do you want to control? what features are you wanting to map to it?
the jog wheel controllers are mostly shite until you start paying more than 200 quid for them - if its just for in the house the bcd's seem to get a good value for money review read this http://www.skratchworx.com/reviews/bcd2000.php and this http://www.skratchworx.com/reviews/totalcontrol.php
i'm getting rid of my 2000 after christmas mate, al hoy it to ya cheap since stu's not getting anymore. problem with the 2000 is - you can't really buy them anymore (its the 3000 now) and also the 2000 isnt supported properly by vista - which means you get the BSOD once in a while
aye cheers, ill see if it works. im hopefully going to buy me dads laptop off him after christmas so ill see if it works then...if not ill get a cheap £150 off the bay
i was very keen on that numark total control til i realised it didnt have a fucking headphone socket. would have to buy this..http://www.djstore.com/item/numdjio.htm.. or an equivalent. no score.
Ive been looking into these recently and the Novation Nocturn comes very highly recommended - its primarily for controlling plug-ins but I was told by a store clerk they are easily programmed for laptop DJing, depends what you want it for really but worth checking out! http://www.decks.co.uk/products/Novation/Nocturn
Numark gear is rubbish, dont waste your money Ive had this for 3/4 years and its still going strong well worth the £60 i paid for it
i think i'm getting one of these: http://www.decks.co.uk/products/vestax/vci100 they look dead flimsy tho.
DJM800 Rotary has got a built in midi controller, and its a snip at just £1199.99 (with traktor) http://www.decks.co.uk/products/mixers/pioneer/djm800_rotary
you seen the Xone4D looks immense but cant help feel its a bit overpriced what do you program do you run with that si?
MistaK, Got a VCI 100 in the store here for demo if you wana come try it out (we only have that one in stock at the moment but you can come try it anyways). Its certainly not flimsy!! its quite weighty actually and is the best midi controller on the market at this present time for more pro mixing. Getting Vestax stuff in the UK is going to be difficult at the moment as the UK distributor 'Leisuretec' has officially announced they are no longer distributing Vestax stuff. Not sure on whats happening yet with Vestax in the UK but will find out soon enough. www.soundware.co.uk
cheers for the advice/salesman pata mate i'll keep that in mind since my BCD isnt really doing it for me at the minute. and si - if you want to sell it to anyone, i'll take it - i need a new set of controls for effects and VST's

Yeah those M-Audio controllers are pretty popular... Paul Ritch, Damian Schwartz, Tadeo, Monoblock all use them... I prefer the Behringer BCR-2000 though...
