Microsoft Starts New Ban Wave on LIVE Against Modified Firmwares Microsoft Starts New Ban Wave on LIVE Against Modified Firmwares >> We don't have a lot of information yet (it just started, but we try to warn you all as early as possible), but it looks like Microsoft started a new wave of bans against modified DVD firmwares or DVD+/-R DL discs. Several users on our forums and on IRC report their Xbox 360 has been banned from LIVE today. We get reports of Toshiba-Samsung and Hitachi-LG drives banned with both Xtreme and even the newer iXtreme firmwares. However we also see many reports of people who are currently on LIVE and have no been banned (yet). No reports of banned BenQ drives yet (but few of these drives have been flashed yet). We don't know yet if Microsoft is detecting the modified firmware or the discs (or maybe only with a specific game?). If you have the 'Z Code' 8015-190D it means you are banned. As always Microsoft bans the console serial from LIVE, not your LIVE account. If your console is banned or if you have been playing on LIVE today with modified FW without getting banned, report you findings in this thread (include at least your live status, full drive model (swapped drive?, spoofing?) and firmware version used). So until we have more info we HIGHLY suggest you don't log in to Xbox LIVE and don't play any games from DVD+/-R DL (even offline, incase MS flags something) if you have a flashed DVD drive.
Aint logged in since i seen this, was on it last night and was fine. console is still working ok tho, apparemtly you'll get banned as soon as you sign in. gonna stay off it for a few days until they find a way round it.
i take it this is to prevent copied games from working on live? There will be a workaround fairly soon mind!
nah its actually happening, the banned reports are comming from a reliable source. @trance_fan yeah getting banned from live stops them playing there back ups online altho they can still continue to play the backups offline !!
all a matter of time really tho, if all the live accounts are linked directly to microsoft, they'll obv be sending back data like dodgey firmware. but still, workarounds come thick and fast.
In laymans terms is this stopping people playing copied games on their 360's? I didn't even know you could do that.
So if I got my 360 firmwared I could play copies and still play originals online even if no fix for this problem is found
you can play copies and originals online, i have been for months. only now it looks like there clamping down on it, so theyve banned a few people from x box live. it still works for me but im gonna leave it for a bit incase they get me..
There's a number of reports being made, lots of people only play their backups offline and originals online but are still getting banned alongside those that play them online as well, apparently its games that arent stealthed properly that are being picked up not the actual modified firmware !!
I fancy modding mine, but i feel i dont appreciate copied games, if i buy something, i am more likely to play it through instead of disguard as i would if i had 300 games
i can only play one game at a time where as id buy shit loads of copies and play them for half hour each
