Microsoft Anti-Spyware / Anti Virus http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx just launched today (or so the tech news on my works intranet claims)... microsoft throw their hat into the anti virus / internet security ring.... apparently it's free, regularly updated and is the precursor to a full microsoft security suite product launch (not free ). i watch with interest... lets see how microsoft can deal with providing security for their os...
Could be good news for peeps though if summinck as good as GIANT is going to be free, it pisses all over adaware and spybot.
Microsoft will continue to provide the same level of support to current subscribers of GIANT AntiSpyware software as was offered by GIANT Company Software prior to its acquisition by Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft, however, will no longer sell new licenses, subscriptions, or subscription renewals for GIANT Company Software products, including GIANT AntiSpyware. If your subscription has expired, you may choose to download and install Windows AntiSpyware (Beta). To do so, follow the steps below. Note: If you choose to download and install the Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) software, you must uninstall any previous versions of GIANT AntiSpyware. thats defo whats happened then... fair play, free is good
But, bad for independent software creators such as adaware and spybot. It's a bit of a paradox really... :spangled:
hmmm... in fact while we are on this security theme - ur right, my panda antivirus recently jumped up and bit me on the arse (no updates ) im thinkin im gonna have to buy one im not buyin norton again tho, shag that....
installed good crack im tryin this MS antispyware... seems effective, found a lot of stuff that adaware and panda failed to notice. although it has highlighted flashget as a 'high risk' spyware app news to me :spangled: guess i had better get rid but tbh i kinda liked it and: i had thought about that but it seems they have taken over a good company on the spyware front, and hopefully with access to microsoft's 'knowledge' they will make a good security suite wonder who they are gonna take over to make the anti virus bit
