we wont have big money available.

but from what MM has shown he can do with limited money....im actually pretty optomistic

we dont set the league on fire...but i think we can survive and start to built.

Gave one of my Sunderland supporting mates a hypothetical situation last night. If Sunderland had £40m to spend, who should they sign?

The two names he eventually came up with for forward positions were Robbie Keane and Dennis Bergkamp. Both would be cracking signings....especially with Bergkamps fear of flying and the North Shields ferry terminal being as close  Cheap returns back to Amsterdam :p

To be fair, you could come up with about 20 or so names, and I don't think you'd get many right. Will be interesting to see what he does.

what do sunderland fans think then, should they sign players like bergkamp with experience ensuring they still stay up next season but knowing they dont have much left in them, or look towards the future and get soem young talent, which could be risky if they cant pull their weight in the premiership?

I think if Bergkamp left Arsenal he'd be going straight to the retirement home

I cant imagine the big clubs ie, Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool wanting to buy Ashton.

Sunderland will be playing in front of 40,000 + next season so we have as much chance as any of the other clubs in the prem and we can guarantee him a first team place.:)

yeah but you can only guarentee him prem football for one season...

plus he wont wanna be playing at the bottom all season.

Aye & now he has proved himself he isn't going to join any club that is going to be down the bottom all season. He will more than likely join a well established Premiership club instead. Yous would have more chance getting that Francis fella for midfield
  17. Guest

well done. whats your goal for next season?? 4th bottom?

Our first season in the prem we finished 6th mate.

I think that is a good aim for them because this is one of the worst Sunderland teams to get promoted to the Premiership & the crowds @ SOL this season prove this.

nail on the head.... they didnt even sell the stadium out till they'd won the league.
