Michael Bridges Coming back to Sunderland for nowt, could be an excellent signing in the first division
I cant find that news story anywhere, but I think the First division is about his level now. I have herd Ben Clark is going Hartlepool.
Bridges set for Sunderland return? Last posted: Tuesday 21 September 2004 12:16 MICHAEL Bridges could be set to make an emotional return to his former club, Sunderland, less than three months after signing for Wanderers and without kicking a ball at senior level. Wanderers have confirmed they are in talks with Sunderland, who are keen to take over the remainder of the the 26-year-old striker's contract. It is believed that Bridges, who joined Wanderers on a free transfer from Leeds in July, is resigned to not being part of Sam Allardyce's Premiership plans. He has not figured in the squad for any of the six league games to date and, although there was some speculation he may be involved in Tuesday night's Carling Cup tie at Yeovil, reports in the North-east suggest his next public appearance could be for Sunderland in the Coca-Cola Championship on Friday night, ironically at Leeds. Bridges had been touted for a move at the weekend when it was suggested Sam Allardyce was prepared to loan him out to gain the match practice he has been denied with the Wanderers' attack making such an impressive start to the season. Allardyce admitted he was taking a gamble when he signed Bridges early in the summer. A catalogue of injuries had blighted the career of the North Shields-born front man, of whom big things were expected when he joined Leeds from Sunderland for £5m in 1999. Wanderers have since added Les Ferdinand and El-Hadji Diouf to their attacking ranks and with Henrik Pedersen, Kevin Davies and Kevin Nolan all getting among the goals, Bridges has been restricted to just reserve team outings.
No that is taken from the Bolton Lancashire news and in tonights Echo they are quoted as saying "he will be in a Sunderland shirt for Fridays game" we shall see
I think the deal could be on, just remember it is not the same Mickey Bridges that was a class act @ Sunderland.
hope its true - a player who had so much potential but was held back thru injury. think spence is right, he's more suited to 1st div now, dont think he can cut it at a higher grade. will do a job for us this season tho!
Fair point, but you need to watch the first division to realise how god awful it is, if he is 35% the player he was he will have an impact
Newcastle & Bolton both thought that, but I hope the lad does well because he has a really bad run & he is GEORDIE.
I will bow down to you expert knowledge on the first division. I just hope mad Mick doesnt have him on the bench as the lad needs games more than anything.
He could be a serial killer as long as he helps us get up and your last manager was a mackem so its good to share
Did any of them pellet boys kill anyone? As for Bobby I am sure most people from his neck words dont class themselves as makems. What next some big nose gimp from Barnsley saying he is Irish
Bridges needs to lose some weight before he does anything, he wasnt even better than "Am a nobody" at Newcastle n thats saying something
you lot have short memory's. Bridges is arsehole who thought he was too big for SAFC and spat his dummy when he was told to wait a season until he had a first team place. I was disgusted at the way he left and I actually laughed when he broke his leg at Leeds, just deserts for the wanker. AND DONT FORGET HE PLAYED FOR THE SCUM AS WELL. HE WONT BE WELCOMED BACK, NO WAY!!
He was being held back by SAFC, he was right to move. The way he did it maybe wasnt the best but he WILL be welcomed back...........
I couldnt think of anything worse than failing at my home town club then having to sign for them useless bastards down the road I would rather retire shit than have to go back.... Pike was spot on for what he said - Bridges got too big for his boots and went in the end, now its looks like he's just too big all over
