    Mauro Picotto - Who....

    ...does he think he is?

Taken from TRANCE.NU -- In a recent BXR interview, Mauro Picotto said the following about the UK clubbers:

"US or UK? -Definitely the US, the UK is in severe danger of disappearing up it's own Ass. The clubs and clubbers are separated by their genres, with each genre believing they are better than the other! Each genre is unwilling to accept another and this is segregating the people. I wish some people would remember that Dance music is about having a good time.”

Coming from a man who plays exclusively his own music and tunes that sound like someone putting up a shed at 160BPM!

That will be the reason why he keeps getting to play his boring techno for over-inflated (even as far as DJ's are concerned) fees, at Trance nights accross the UK then.

    And "definitely the US"? What?!

A country where glowsticks and all sorts of things are banned from the majority of clubs as they can't be seen to allow drugs paraphanelia for fear of the police closing them down.

A country with hardly any chillout or quiet rooms in clubs, because a judge ruled they make drug taking safer and in his words they did not want to make it safer.

A country where Lasgo are considered 'massive'. He must fit nicely in with the music scene there!

hmmmmm, well i have to agree with picotto to be honest, not totally but if u look at a general wide perspective of clubbers in the uk each genre - proggy, trance and techno always slate each other, we have all done it, unless your musically mature enough to enjoy a range of styles like myself and i know a few others on the board do.

you cant tell me there hasnt been arguments on message boards, in clubs etc about whether techno should be played in certain clubs, whether prog would go down well in certain clubs, etc etc... everybody has argued bout it.

my point here is because of these competitive genres it adds to the whole seriousness of clubbing in the uk now. along with the whole dj culture thing going on.

PEOPLE THESE DAYS DONT KNOW OR HAVE FORGOT WHAT CLUBBING IS ACTUALLY MEANT TO BE!!!!!!! --- especially in the UK.

    (and im only 23!!) lol

Hes telling the truth and to be honest most folks who have read that agree, Picotto not only a class DJ but also someone who is honest and has a bit of integrity

He's right and it aint the first time he has brought this up about the UK's clubbers. If peeps stopped taking it all so seriously then mabey we would witness a resurgence in the UK's club scene.

TBH who gives a fuck if a DJ drops a beat every now and then, quit moaning and just enjoy yourself. And its people like this who are ruining the UK's club scene IMHO.

Its always the same, a small minority bring down the rest. Clubbing is a recreation nothing else people need to stop treating it like their own little soap operas...

ditto... i think a lotta people gotta remember that clubbing is about FUN... hell, ive even notice that i have become a lot more 'elitist' recently... fortunately, i have seen this and i can shut myself up! however, i do think this is a major problem affecting our culture! this could be an intersting discussion - and i would like to hear peoples opinions on this, so come on! speak up, i want to know what people think! :)

The UK club scene is notoriously arrogant and narrow minded.

Picotto is far more qualified to answer that question that any of us.

    Agree with that 100%!

How many "HH is shite" / "I hate prog" etc topics have there been on this board? Indeed, just look at the posts about people hating Picotto as a DJ and slating him just because they are so narrow minded to accept a different style that the usual trance they're used to?

    Class thread,

Picotto is completely right. Its all about having fun

I like Trance, I like Hard Trance, I like Hard House, I like Prog (a lot more than I used to) I dont like Techno. I dont like thrash metal, I dont like R&B,

Who said that I should like or not like these types of music.

    nobody, I just do!

Sure i do like to broaden my horizons, but if i dont like something then i dont like there aint a lot I can do about it!

Dom X i think you should go join the nationalists party you would make a great MP.
