In Manchester the day the game is on. Not on Sky so going to have to find some sketchy pub with a foreign transmission. Not a great way to watch the match considering I support the Scousers.

Anyone who isnt from Liverpool but became a Liverpool FC fan in the 80's is known as gloryseeker, regardless of how much money they spend following the Reds.

I can't remember Liverpool winning the title. I was only 6 by the time the 80's finished. Not exactly glory supporting. I became a big Liverpool fan during the Souness era when I lived in South Africa (when I was 8/9, the time when kids can start appriciating football, it's rules etc), not exactly a glorious period!

So how did you become a Liverpool fan & not a Preston North End fan?

Lived in four towns (Morcambe, Barrow, Ashington, Gateshead) before the age of five (moved to South Africa at the age of five). Can only vaguely remember Barrow of my early childhood.

I remember one Merseyside derby in 1988 or 1987 (no idea when) and people saying you had to be a blue or a red, then my next Liverpool memory was the Hillsbrough disaster, which I remember seeing on tele in Slouth Africa. My Dad isn't a football fan, but talked to me quite a lot about the disaster and what it meant. This is, I reckon, when I started becoming interested in them, but it just weirdly grew on me.

i still remember what i was doing the day of the hillsbrough disaster & where i was when i 1st heard the news..it was on the radio & then we quickly turned on the t.v. to c the events unfold!!! :(

i've read reports & theories into why this happened...it was a fucking shocking disgrace & a big fuck up on the polices side...guess who got more compensation, the police who caused & had to deal? or the victims?
