Manchester police to tolerate personal XTC in clubs 'The Big Issue has recently covered a new police procedure to tolerate personal ecstasy in clubs. This approach is to be pioneered in Manchester as part of the Greater Manchester Clubsafe scheme which aims to set new safety standards at venues - including free drinking water, first aid training for staff and stricter guidelines on body searching. The new initiative has been launched at six clubs in Manchester. Party goers will know if a club is taking part in the scheme because clubs testing the scheme will have a plaque outside. In the past, club owners have side-stepped clubbers' safety issues because they don't want to show police they're aware of drug use inside their doors. In the test-case clubs, doormen catching party goers with personal ecstasy (anything up to 20 pills) are no longer obliged to call the police. They can now confiscate the drugs and let the clubbers in, instead. Mat Southwell of the Dance Drugs Alliance said: "Clubbers will notice that their health is being seen by club owners and police as central to their night out, rather than being treated as criminals". Could this be the future of drugs in clubs. Discuss?
I would have thought it wud have been less than 20 pills for them not to call the police, say bout 5/10, u know what there like these days. Thats a very relaxed view IMO, but at the end of the day it could work I believe the first aid and free drinking water should be standard in most clubs of largish capacities as well so thatsa positive sign.
Thats one good thing about Tall Tree's. They have a first aid room and 4 st. johns peeps walking round all night. They also have police on the door most of the night aswell.
This is defantly the best way 2 do things! But is it not like the dope scenairory were there in the middle of legalising it so they can tax it! In all onesty the Gov will b just experimenting, with the yobs from manchester 2 c if it's a bad drug!! And if its not, they will say we'll have 2 legallise 2 make it safer, thus so they can tax it. U wait 5 years
Think this is definately the way forward for drugs in clubs. Awareness instead of ignorance seems like a good idea and to make clubs safer cant be a bad thing. I thought free water was compulsory already anyway though?
Re: Manchester police to tolerate personal XTC in clubs They have been doing this at Gatecrasher & Sundis for years.........
yeah i've heard stories of that happening all ova like!! fink its more the bouncers policy rather than the clubs though mebbes...??!! xxx
basically what has happened is all the bouncers suppliers in manchester have gone tits up.. so they're just gonna take your drugs off you and sell them back to you instead. bit like the empire really!
ne1 knw which clubs it is? i knw wen we went2 sankeys the other week, this guy got caught with pills n the bouncers gave them bk2 him n let him in....but sayin that, they were walkin round the dancefloor with torches later on lookin for drugs on the floor which is a bit crap wen ya tryin2 dance n stuff!
Could b the way foward clubebrs with pills on them does not damage society at all really, police time could be better spent else were.
i really like it!it used2 b a soap factory, so its gota bit of character in it which makes it better than alot of clubs i knw!chems shud b mint there, mite hav2 go meself!loads of red lighting in it - hence redlight on a saturday
