Man Utd V Toon Well happy with that, Jonas Gutierrez ran himself ragged and looked fucking quality and for me was man of the match or Shay Given for his first half exploits. Nicky Butt tried his best again to give the game to Man Utd but overall i think we played well, was fucking sick of Ronaldo being missing getting brough up - they seem to forget we have Michael Owen / Mark Viduka / Joey Barton all out ?? Loved hearing our cheer at the away end when the whistle went, on 4 mins added time as well and not the 3? "He's here he's there he's every fucking where Spiderman"
of course Man Utd weren't 100% but then again neither were we, great debut for jonas like really really impressed with him Coloccini was a bit shakey in the 1st half but after he settled down he looked OK, he might look even better after he has had more than 1 traning session with his new team mates as well! a good and justified point for i think like!
Didnt watch it as I'm at work but from what I heard on the radio it sounded quality, I had a fiver on us to win 2-1, wouldve made my day if we scored late on aswell
Yous did alright and probs deserved a draw overall. That winger looked canny, Collocini's hair is ridiculous and KK looks like hes piled on the weight pre-season Its only the opening weekend though so dont get carried away, bearing in mind Reading took a point from there on the opening day last season....
i had martins 1st goal! he was 9/1 aswell i only put two fucking quid on it though (traitor that i am also had £2 on vicic and ferdinand at 16's each )
Don't be bitter m8, we went to the champions and took a point off them at old traf. How did your lads get on yest Did i mention Torres is in my dream team??
Nothing to be bitter about mate, like i said yous deserved a point. We matched Liverpool for 90 mins though were beaten by a flash of brilliance from Torres, cant say im too gutted tbh. With a defender (Silvestre? ) and a big name striker coming in this week can see us being a totally different side than we were last year. With not a hint of Mcshane at right back it can only bode well for us come derby time
I didnt realise the Premiership was about good looking players graham, i could of sworn it was about points and wins and goals BUT iif were gonna go down that road El Hadji Diouf looks like he has been set on fire and put out with a fucking 3 wood for a start, Craig Gordon looks like he's been sleeping on the snow beds and needs to open his eyes which is canny for a keeper ? Marlbranque as well fucking hell Ring them bells Quasy... Paul Mcshane as well, split blob job?
Of course it is mate, cant you see it in our team? Higginbotham, Mcshane, Whitehead, Reid... all cracking looking lads to be fair
awesome atmosphere at the game like, fucking man utd champions? worst fans in the country, they are like that every season its like the directors take their money off them, and their voices. Despite any excuse in terms of man u players missing, we played well today, nothing but positives in the side, guitterez man of the match for me, and a few thousand geordies as well, it felt like a win at full time.
i was over moon with result and performance. but it could hve been more but never mind top performance lads gutierez was class like. and we had good pace in the team which was good to see
We looked pretty good like, plenty of pace, nice one touch passing, everyone in the team working for each other, loads of energy and the defence settled down well after a shakey opening few minutes. A few more players in and if we're lucky with injuries we might just be able to challenge for a European spot.
I was more than happy with yesterday. I went into the game with a totally negative attitude. Thought we'd be pissed on after the last few meetings with them but, after a shaky start, they got right into it. I can't help but think if Taylor wasn't off the pitch just after our goal, would they have scored when they did??? I'm not denying that if Man U didn't score then they would have easily had other chances, but I began to believe we had a chance of taking all three points at certain stages of the game. Although the always remained a threat, our defence dealt with it well. They were calm on the ball most of the match, which is a rare thing for a Newcastle back four. I agree with the rest of you, Gutierrez was easily our man of the match. He looked like he'd been in our team longer than most of our first team did last season. Coloccini did what he had to at the back, even though he has a horrendous hair cut I can see why Keegan liked him. I wouldn't mind tickets for the Bolton game on Saturday now *EDIT - Forgot to mention Guthrie. Though he played his part in midfield. Looks promising too.
