    Re: Man untied keeper crisis

surely he can only be as a reserve??

just read an article in NUTS about it, they narrowed it down to Carlo Cudicini, Iker Casillas, Sebastien Frey, Shay Given

Personally Id like to see Given goto Man United outta them, think he`d thrive at it

I think given is over rated, he is a good shot stopper but poor in the box and terriblw at backpasses and kicking...

If he went it would be no massive loss

I watched him nearly 40 times home and away this season and he was no where near as good as people make out, I think harper is really not that far behind in aability so if we could get £10 for Shay to go towards rebuilding a poor squad and play harps i dont hink we woul dbe worse off

If you are gonna come out with you usual shitty come back because of your personal disliking of me then please back it up with facts, You really do need to get over the fact you dont like me its very childish

He's talking sense there though. Given isn't as good as everyone things he is, and if we were to get 10 for him, then I probably won't say no. Harper isn't as good as him, but isn't too far behind. Given has never commanded his area well enough, and his kicking as got worse and worse. He's on par with any good keeper in the world on shot stopping, which is the major part of goalkeeping tbf

Thats EXACTLY how i see him, Amazing shot stopper which makes him appear amazing on MOTD but when you see him week in, week out you see his true level of all round goalkeeping

way past his best? bollox. VDS is a great keeper with heaps of experience... exct what UTD need next season. Keepers can play on at the top till 37 EASY.

VDS and Given have been the most consistant keepers in the prem for years.

    Great signing.

Still no Peter though. Can have some very dodgy games! I remember against us at home a couple of seasons ago, he had a nightmare! Still an alright signing though, will do better than Carroll, etc

hit on the head there m8,,hes got bags of experience still ruling the roost at international level. For the £2mil (i think) they paid a reckon its a bargain, When u compare it to the £10mil spurs were askin for robbo i think man utd have played it v.well. Still hate the wankers though!!!!:D

VDS has had a couple of shockers against boro... but a few years back he was awesome. maybe playing for united he wont have as much to do anyway

still a 34 year old keeper seems a bit unambitious... they're after park from psv too, who looks a decent player, but neither is the kind of big name that you would expect a team that has a LOT of catching up to do to sign. think man u need a massive name to close the gap on chelsea, same goes for arsenal but its all down to the money available...

I think he's got VDS in order to allow Tim Howard to develop. He's just signed a new long term contract. Give him an experienced keeper to play understudy to and learn more without having too much pressure piled on him and hopefully he'll emerge as the huge talent Fergie thinks he is in years to come.

    Not a bad move IMO.
