major problem on PC Right, its Godscrasher here, cant sign in so ive used this old name. The Problem: My computer, when i switch it on it trys to boot up, but nothing happens, except i get a message saying " ERROR LOADING OPERATING SYSTEM" ive had this PC for about 10 months, and if i cant resolve the problem myself iam gonna take it back to the shop. So has anybody got any ideas of what it could be? system info. pentium 4 2.0 processor 256 mb ram 40gb hd i had 3gb of storage left last time i had a look last week if thats any help. tried booting up from hard drive, cd and floppy, wont do owt. Cheers u lot..iam on the backup now..the laptop, so this will have to do til i get it sorted.
Corrupt system files most likely dude. Reinstall windows over top - will sort it and keep ur stuff also...
yeah i ve got a major problem... when i start up my pc (this aint mine) when it loads windows, i get continuous Explorer has performed an illegal operation etc.etc. pop ups... so i cant even use Norton thingy from windows...
Doggie - can u get into windows at all? or is it as soon as it boots up? sounds like the same problem - it could just be chuffed. Sounds like a re-install if explorer is crashing all over the shop.
might just throw my pc out the window and watch it smash to peices, that would be more fun and productive
Start in safe mode. that mite work - and therefore let u run ya norton stuff (wont fix owt tho a dont fink) reinstall windows over top - freshen up a bit. or even better - format the lot n start fresh!
noooo i ve reinstalled about 50 times in last two months, i ll loose everything again.. throwin it out the window will be far more fun think my pc is just proper fucked... like proper proper fucked
might be to late but if its a store bought machine check and see if it came with restore cd's for your o/s. if its an HP you can use F10 as soon as you switch the machine on and get the HP splash screen.from here you will be able to do a safe recovery which will keep all apps and data but reload the O/S. if its a compaq it will have restore disks these WILL ERASE YOUR DATA!!! so be careful. other wise try booting into safe mode by pressing F8 whilst windows is loading and if your on XP use the system recovery option. hope it helps
