Re: Mac's Are you still a student? If so you can go to the apple educational store and order one online.. and get some student discount! I thnk.. In terms of what to buy.. you should really go for one of the new intel based macs.. I'll try and find some for ya
yeh i am, well i start the music production foundation degree course this year as i done the access last year. gettin a grand on monday so wanna get some decent gear,
Figured.. it did have me slightly though Does this course require a mac.. as alex is right.. it would be far easier to get software for a windows os based machine..
tbh mate just set yourself a budget and get the most processor and ram you can afford, and get a good graphics card to cause all the fancy graphics in software programs will be run off the ram on the card which leaves more for tunage. Tell chandler your budget and he will tell you the best spec you can get. I'm not the best to ask about the pc, i can just run the software very well.
yeah well ive got about a grand to spend but would like to spend as little as possible, but obv want reliable equipment thats going to last me.. i want a laptop, and im going to buy an external with 300gb on it to store all the audio and software
yeh thats somthing thats been worrying me, just trying to force myself to use logic as it seems to be the industry standard at the minute and i want to be a sound engineer eventually, just cant see fruity being in many big studios worlwide
Reet.. You can get some really good laptops for a grand.. I'll check it out.. Incidently.. Here is a decent mac setup..
yeah mate your right but tbh logic, cubase any proper sequencer work in relativley similar ways, so if you choose one of those your will be able to switch relativle easily
Here is a good laptop.. but for 1.4k.. Here is a good Mac book for 1.2k.. A decent dell notebook on the right.. but only has 1gb ram. For 1.3k.
jamie are you gonna need a laptop, cause you'll be able to get a mean mother fucker of a desktop pc for a grand, plus you can't take you monitors and shit when you move your laptop around
is it best to have more ram then for running all the software does that macbook have the intel chip innit? does the intel chip enable me to switch to look the windows os and use cubase or fruity
ram is for running audio, and cpu is used for running synths primarily, there is a bit of cross over, but you need lots of both. you can't run windows on mac? i don't think
