    macmillan cancer charity?

Contemplating doing a fundraising trip with these guys. walking the great wall of china. Its something that id like to raise money for as ive known people who have passed away due to cancer and also think it would be a once in a lifetime thing to do to walk the entire wall? Anyone on here done anything like this before? Its not til 24th april next year so plenty of time to raise the 3000 odd pounds required?

    Thoughts?

I know a few people who have done similiar things and paid for the flights etc out of their own pocket giving all raised cash to the actual charity. It's the honourable thing to do really.

A lass I work with is doing a cycling challenge for them in a few months time, through Panama, Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Sounds pretty tough, and she's also got to raise a minimum of £3,300. Of the minimum amount raised, approximately 35% will go towards the cost of the trip and at least 65% will be treated as a donation to Macmillan. If she raises over £3,300, 100% of the surplus goes to the charity. Pretty big ask, and she's only got about £1,200 in 7 or 8 months, with only a month or two left.

She did leave it pretty late to start really trying though, and I don't think she's very outgoing. You can probably do it if you really make the effort (and in my experience it's amazing how much spare cash you can get from people by wandering round a party at the end of the night :D )
