This statement was released by the Championship joke side from down the road on Tuesday:

S*nderland AFC today announced that the Club has entered into a new partnership with S & N UK, making the company the Official Beer Partner of S*nderland AFC.

...for the forthcoming 2006/07 season and beyond S & N UK will be the Club's sole
supplier.

Hang on a minute. Let's just re-write that again to give the sponsors some proper exposure:

S*nderland AFC today announced that the Club has entered into a new partnership with Scottish & Newcastle UK, making the company the Official Beer Partner of S*nderland AFC.

...for the forthcoming 2006/07 season and beyond Scottish & Newcastle UK will be the Club's sole supplier.

Imagine that? Presumably they've already taken a big delivery of crates of the special Alan Shearer Brown Ale? And how long before the logo appears on those tatty shirts...?

Of course, their own horrible brewery, Vaux, did the decent thing and shut down years ago meaning that they've been supping our ale for some time now.

As well as shopping, flying, catching the train, going out etc. etc. on Tyneside....
