    Luque makes Magpies vow

Albert Luque has pledged to stay at Newcastle and prove his worth to the side.

The former Deportivo La Coruna star has endured a nightmare first season on Tyneside due to a series of injury problems.

Luque has been strongly linked with a quick return to Spain, but the Spanish international insists he has no plans to leave.

The 28-year-old, who scored his first goal for the club in Easter Monday's win over Sunderland, accepts he has not been at his best this season.

"I am aware of the speculation about me leaving the club and maybe going back to Spain, but that is not in my thoughts," Luque told the club's official website.

"I want to do well at Newcastle United, and I am determined to prove that I am a good player who can help the team.

"I have learned a lot this season, though I know it has not been a good season for me.

"I know I can do much better personally, and I have learned a lot about the way the game is played in England.

"I know I have been criticised in the media, but that does not bother me. In fact, a lot of the time I have agreed with the things that have been said in the newspapers."

Least has has the balls to come out and say he has done totally shite i suppose.

    Hope he turns good

Agree with you there, not alot of players would agree with critisicsm, you just have to hope he can do something about it to turn it into praise.

The fact he wants to stay is a bonus for you as he could so easily have fucked off in a cut price deal.

What a refreshing change from the Roberts, Domi's, of the football world. Words mean nothing though, lets just hope he isn't another complete flop. Put it this way though, he won't be getting a game on the left wing, so it's upfront if anything where he's going to achieve this!
