lsass.exe Problem gutted! on my laptop when i start it up i get the normal background, but with no taskbar or icons, just the error message: lsass.exe - System Error Object Not Found an then it shuts down when you click on ok or the little x it shuts down googled it an could only solutions where you need the comp to be on an working. any ideas? an btw i had jus ran adaware an norton this morning! it does the same thing in safe mode too
I had something similar and it was the sasser virus that was knocking about a while ago- I got the updates for adaware and spybot and they got rid. Have you got all of the updates for Adaware? Try spybot too- might get shot of it
thats the thing... windows doesn't even start up fully so i can't check/change anything... its the same when in safe mode think i'm gonna have to cut my losses an do a system restore... most of my stuff is backed up, jus gonna lose my itunes library an photos from the past month or so
gutted mate can you use the 'safe mode command prompt only' to get to a command prompt, and save your files from there?
It may not be the sasser worm...there is actually a file in windows called LSASS.EXE this is apart of windows and is needed for windows to run properley. There may have been a problem in Windows probably caused by one of the famous .dll files that usually kick off and in turn this may have corrupted the LSASS.EXE which would not let windows start up. Sorry to say but this may end up in a format. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
how would i install windows again without formatting? jus put the cd in an boot from that? cos i cant do anything with it at the mo andy: tried all the safe mode thingys an jus get the same error message might jus cut my losses an format it cos i'm shit wi computers i think i have most stuff backed up apart from some of the photos from the past month (don't worry ed all the ones when you've been out are on a disk ready to send to you ) an my itunes library... an its jus the time getting that back more than losing anything thanks for the help tho!
i think i'm gonna get some1 who knows what they're doing wi computers to sort it, so i don't fuck it up even more!
I assume you are using XP, when you boot from CD, there is an option to "repair an existing installation", thats the one you should try first
