I think it somes up how fickle and retarded us geordies are. Any prick (apart from sounie) could string home wins against medicore teams together. He has not achieved anything remarkable, we need a proven manager.
ye have to agree, he was rotten at west ham and has only beaten only poor teams, although O'Neill was never realistically going to go, they were better going for someone like Curbishley or Allardyce, or got Le Guen before Rangers did.
Roeders doing a Q & A session at Monty's at Stanley tonight (thurs). He's got more balls than i thought the crazy bastard..
Was there.......and what a breath of fresh air!!! He deserves a chance in my eyes. Same squad, same injuries, sime circumstances and he's turned a proper shit season around totally. Completely took the piss out of the mackems and was really down to earth. He knows what it means to be the manager of Newcastle and given a chance he'll do well
Unless the rest of the managers in the Premier League agree that he should have the job, and give their consent, it will not be given to him, at present, without his badges...
he's came in as a nobody and done better than big name managers we've had, youse lot are thick as fuck. Yes we only beat mediocre teams, but what do you think we are, most of us weren't even alive when we won a cup last
I personally wouldn't of minded if he kept things going the way they have been. There's been a team spirit that we've lacked for a good while and one thing that every player at Newcastle has needed is confidence. It's not a bad thing that we've only beat a few of the lower in the league clubs, if that gets our confidence back then If we struggle to get the manager we want during the break, we don't want to next season to creep up on us and then make a last minute, rushed decision. After all, I love the Toon but, it's a massive job for any prospective manager to take on. I think give Roeder the credit he deserves. He's got the respect of the players - therefore imo was good enough for the job. Name someone better who'd actually say yes to the job without thinking twice!
Every team that loses its manager has a surge of team spirit and 'we're all in it for each other lads'-mentality. Course it's not a bad thing, but it's not exactly an achievment either. See above points. And also I reckon it's more that the players are friendly/familiar with him rather than respect him. Plenty of better people, have honestly no idea who'd accept it though. He wouldn't be the worst in the world, but he's hardly going to take the club places. Just feel it would be another disappointing, flat, anti-climax of an appointment, not too dissiamilar from McClaren (or Souness for that matter)!
