London Transport As great as it is I just had a bit of a beast.. Been out and about this morning and used £4 on my oyster which I thought meant that I could travel round all over the place for a day, as it counts as a day ticket. I swiped in at Liverpool street and it beeped and said seek assistance, so i did, and the bloke said that I didn't have any money on my card...so I explained how I'd been out and about and that I wasn't from the area and I was told that once you hit £4 on an oyster that the rest of the day is covered. Not on local trains it seems, and instead of just letting me past, he serves me a £20 penalty and a whole lot of attitude. Apparently I "must have got a double beep and not a single beep at the other end" - rushing for a train at KX I wasn't really paying attention. Is it true or have I been jipped?! The annoying thing is, I always pay my way, and if I'd just jumped other trains today I'd have been fine at liverpool street.... Bastards!
Guess I was just unlucky then. Honest mistake, shame the bloke had to be such a twat, he could have just let me through. Better pay more attention to the Oyster machine in future
Unrelated but, before the national rail system (which was the first in the world) all the cities in England had different time's as the sun rose at different times. It was only with the introduction of the national system that the times were syncronized to GMT in order for the system to work properly. Thanks UK History.
dreading the interview/assessment(s), but a bit nervous about getting to and from. I'll have to get use to it though i guess.
