London Olympic Bid The final proposal has been handed in today. Do people think it is a good idea trying to bring such a prestigous event to this country or a waste of time and money?
As the french are going for it with twice the budget of our bid.....it would be great to get them just to annoy the french.

This one is coming to Europe so it us & The French really, I dont see the Germans in the race. The yanks get every other time so they can bog off
I wouldnt be so sure since this year its in Europe (athens) so i cant see it goin europe - somewhere (names gone) - Europe. I have a suspicion it may go to Rio if the government can convince the IOC that they can fund it, since the olympics have never been in South America
erm where else is it goin to go? cant think of anywhere else for it... birmingham failed in its bid, as did manchester... i hope we get it.. as long as they dont fuck it up budget wise - which is inevitable... salt lake cost a fortune!
Just me being a typical bitter northener! Would love to have it, it could be a once in a lifetime event so we should make the most of it. As for the budget, surely there is a killing to be made from the tourists... london is already expensive, the olympics would hike prices up higher... it wont cover all costs but surely it would be a major source of income
St James will host some of the earlier matches if it goes to London Cardiff (Millennium Stadium), Glasgow (Hampden Park), Windsor Park (Belfast), Manchester (Old Trafford), Newcastle (St James' Park) and Birmingham (Villa Park) could all stage matches if the London bid is successful
its all about SAVING money... the ioc where concerned about the rising cost and the amount countries where spending on the games - new stadia etc... big spending aint nessecarily better! 3 bn less could work in our favour!
