london dwellers if you are within striking distance and you have an open mind check this out. the guy's a genious IMO Amon Tobin at the Kentish Town Forum (London) - Nov 15th 2007 "Amon Tobin will be performing a 90 minute DJ set in 7.1 Surround Sound, presenting a live mix of his new material from “Foley Room” alongside the music that inspired him to make it. Unlike conventional DJ sets, his set will focus more on composing new arrangements live on the decks, than on simply matching songs that share a similar bpm. The mixes will be treated more as layers in an arrangement than as transitions between tracks, and the decks will be used more like samplers manipulating sources from vinyl than as turntables. Amon Tobin’s influences are broad and therefore the set he will play will reflect these with the inclusion of everything from hip hop to soundtracks to dn'b. Sumptuous sonic indulgences and his love for the more bizarre and visceral aspects of dn'b will be reflected in the content of the set."
Also London dwellers, while your here, would you mind telling me the most practical way to get from Heathrow airport to Trafalgar square. If i drive will i have to pay the congestion charge?
Might take a look at that guy... As for the journey, don't even think about driving it for the first time - get the underground son
Piccadilly line all the way to Leicester Sq from Heathrow, then it's a 5 minute walk to Trafalgar Sq. You will have to pay the congestion charge, but I really wouldn't bother driving. Regardless of the time of day, it will take you fucking ages.
Have you ever actually been to London? Do you think it's £10 a pint or something down here? Because there's actually very little difference between here and what I used to pay in Newcastle.
i used to work in london and have been recreationally a few times. and in fairness which you probably cant deny - that it is more expensive. i remember paying near on 2 and a half quid for half a stella in flying scot in kings cross, either that or the bastard shorted me obviously not 10 quid a pint, now howay be reasonable i remember finding this wheterspoons called the typewriter. dead cheap in there but i forgot where it was.... about 15 minutes walk from kings cross i think
Re: london dwellers Do 5.1/7.1 setups work in clubs? wouldnt it just sound really unbalanced? (genuine questions)
its the same price for beer in LDN as it is here pretty much. and you think 2.50 is expensive for a stella? where do you drink? boom?
Ahhh it all makes sense. Train stations and airports are ridiculous for food and beverage prices no matter where you are in the country.
