Linux Help (Knoppix) - SATA HDD Speeds

    Right...

I've managed to find and mount my failed NAS hard drive using Knoppix (Linux), booting from a USB stick.

I've also mounted another hard drive so I can copy my data there.

Both drives are SATA, with one showing as primary master and the other as primary slave.

I'm trying to copy 300GB+ over. However, the speeds are really slow averaging around 1MB/s (and less). It says it's going to take days to copy.

Does anyone have any ideas what I need to do, to get faster transfer speeds? This is doing my head in!!!
