Levante table optimistic Shearer bid Ambitious Spanish Primera Liga newcomers Levante claim to have offered Newcastle skipper Alan Shearer an attractive two-year deal. President Pedro Villaroel has targeted the former England striker, who is planning to retire from playing at the end of the coming Premiership season. Villaroel confirmed the newly-promoted side were interested in attracting Shearer to the Valencia-based club on a two-year contract. "He has an offer for two seasons with us and his arrival is by no means impossible," said Villaroel. The recent arrival of Patrick Kluivert at St James' Park from Barcelona, coupled with uncertainty over the future of manager Sir Bobby Robson, has led to increased speculation around Shearer. Levante have already signed Leeds' Republic of Ireland full-back Ian Harte and claim they have also reached an agreement with Manchester United to take striker Diego Forlan on loan, although United deny this.
