does it not mean rather than people doing well out of ability, they do well because of the fact they need it most.

like if someone was really good at thier job, should they be the ones with the most money? or should a poor needy orphan do well as they have the real need for the money.

basically means for example should a doctor get paid 10 times as much as a labourer? they're both making a contribution to society, working to the skills they have and both working hard, so why should the labourer get min wage and the doctor gets rich?
