Laptop ive got a cybemaxx laptop but want to burn dvds but it only has a cd rewriter is it better to get it urgradred or just buy a external 1 any replys will be grateful cheers :chill:
It depends on the parts used in your laptop. My laptop uses a standard 'slimline' size drive that is replaceable, and you can upgrade it yourself (although this does involve taking the entire thing apart ) However I have seen laptops that do not have this and they usually have a custom made drive with fitting facia. In this case (unless you find a spare on ebay) you won't be able to upgrade it internally. In that case the best solution would be to buy a caddy and slot a standard IDE DVD writer in. Then you should be able to connect it to the laptop via USB/Firewire.
Last time I looked you could get a laptop size internal one on ebay for about £50. Sony do a complete external one for £80, however you could just get one of these and fit any standard size dvd writer into it, and that probably would be cheaper
