did ya see the news this mornin? loads of music companies have sued loads of people for downloading music. $100,000 per tune! thats a lot of fucked people
Is it illegal to download music (if you don't play it out) - sites like Soulseek aren't illegal are they cos they are not exactly a secret so if they were would get shut down
this has been the problem. it wasnt illegal not sure if it is now but they are definately sueing people. it was on rise this morning
of course it's illegal! breach of copyright?? it's just taken them a while to get their arses into gear and start prosecuting people.
checking the site out now. i do download mp3s as i guess a lot of u do otherwise we wouldnt be as upto date as we`d like to be, but saying that i always buy my fav tunes on vinyl that ive heard as mp3, i have to , its an addiction lol. then again, i cant download much because of my shit connection and therefore use sample clips that almost every online record store has these days i heard they could trance your account on kazaa or summit and they were prosecuting people using that?
P2P file sharing isn't illegal - having a copy of someones copyrighted material without having bought the original is illegal - whether u play them out or not.
I sometimes feel guilty about downloading music but have got CD decks so its hard to get most tunes. Paying to download tunes is starting to come in but it'll be a few years before its taken off properly
Yeah but soulseek is a website anyone can get on not people sitting in a front room somewhere. I think someone's explained the copyright situation but actual soulseek isn't illegal
So basically downloading them isnt illegal as long as they stay on the computer and you dont make your own copy (i.e. onto a CD)? Is that right? Using CDs is shit anyways!
