There's a lot of text to follow, but the main points are that we've finally managed to book two of our favourite DJs in the world and we're flying them over from Japan for the gig. It'll also be the last ever Dada in the derelict "Old Music Hall" space we set up in Newcastle. If you haven't been yet, then you REALLy need to check out the venue before it stops getting used For our next party Dada is saying goodbye to its most recent home, the derelict space that is The Old Music Hall… This will be our fourth & final event there and to mark the occasion we’re incredibly pleased to say that we’ve finally managed to secure a date for not one, but two artists who have consistently blown us away with their output over recent years: DJ KENT (The Backwoods / Force of Nature) & CHIDA (Ene / ESP Institute) Since making the decision 2 years ago to take Dada out of a traditional nightclub environment, we’ve strived to ensure that our only criteria for booking our occasional guests is that we believe them to be exceptional DJs who we simply have to hear play… This will be the first show that either will have played in the North East of England, although as both DJs are based in Japan even just a UK appearance for either is in itself a rare treat… If you’re already familiar with our guests, then we’re confident that you’ll be doing all you can to attend, but if not then we hope that you’ll join us for our last party in The Old Music hall, to give it the Dada send off it truly deserves! As ever, support will also be provided by Dada residents LAST WALTZ... Keep an eye out over the coming weeks for our CD-flyers featuring mixes from both our guests and ourselves… DJ KENT As well as being part of Force of Nature (alongside KZA) DJ Kent has also released an album and a string of amazing records in his solo guise as The Backwoods, which have found favour from the likes of DJ Harvey, François K and Eric Duncan among others… He has remixed for and been remixed by the likes of Theo Parrish and DJ Kaos and has released on labels such as Mule Musiq, Headinghome and Endless Flight. More to the point, he is a phenomenal DJ, as his mixes for the likes of Beats in Space and Naïve Melody more than illustrate… CHIDA DJ Chida runs the Japanese “Ene Records” -a favourite among people such as Tim Sweeney, Max Essa and Soft Rocks- which has released music from the likes of Tiago, Sly Mongoose and Psychogem. His first ever personal release, Danca, came out last year as a limited vinyl only release on Lovefinger’s ESP Institute label, and quickly became an instant classic amongst the more discerning selectors, even finding its way on to Andrew Weatherall’s recent “Masterpiece Mix”. Again, it’s Chida’s DJing skills that have caused us to do all we can to have him play at Dada. His Dancaholic parties are the stuff of legend and listening to any of his live mixes which are available online, it’s easy to see why… LAST WALTZ Regulars will already be familiar with Dada residents & promoters Last Waltz but for those that aren't... Last Waltz are close friends Mick Rolfe, Geoff Leopard and El.Dee, who for the last few years have been throwing the sporadic Dada parties in their native North-East as well as appearing at some of the UK’s more interesting parties & future dates include an appearance at Croatia’s Garden Festival… As well DJing under the Last Waltz moniker they also produce original material, clocking up releases on labels including Endless Flight, Futureboogie, World Unknown & their own vinyl-only imprint Object of Distraction.
