Jon O'Bir/Godskitchen talk about Gods @ Digital Just talked to O'Bir and a bloke from Gods so thought I'd share..... Jon O'Bir - It's been a while since you played a big event in Newcastle, are you looking forward to it? I’m really looking forward to it! I always know I’m going to have a great time in Newcastle because the crowd always seems up for it and they are there for a good time as well as having great knowledge on the tracks I’m playing. Why do you think Godskitchen chose to set up a residency in Newcastle? I think because every time Godskitchen has thrown an event in Newcastle it has been a huge success. I’ve played 2 events at the Metro Arena and both have been up there with my best gigs I’ve played at in those years. They also know that Newcastle has a wicked night life! Will it be a success in your opinion? Yes, I’m sure this will be a success. Godskitchen will be putting 100% into it, so there will be a treat in store for the good people of Newcastle and the North East. Do you know much about the club where it will be held - Digital? I have been hearing many things about Digital over the past few months, all good things! I’ve not played there before, but I hear the sound system is up there with the best in the country. I’ve heard function 1 sound systems a couple of times and can’t wait to whack on my tracks on that beauty. I also hear the DJ booth is a bit special! What can Newcastle expect from you? What is doing it for you musically at the moment? *Plug* Newcastle can feel free to download my monthly website mixes and Ways & Means radio shows from my website www.jonobir.com to find out what’s doing it for me at the moment */plug*. I’m really into everything Rob Stevenson (Activa, Solar Movement, Mekk etc) is creating at the moment, this guys deserves more credit! Where else have you DJ'ed recently and has anywhere really stood out? I played over in Holland for only the second time a few weeks ago, I wish I could play over there more! The gig was fantastic, the place was rammed and the music all night was top quality! Also playing at Spundae in Los Angeles was awesome and I look forward to going back there in the near future. You've been included in a few DJ Top 100's recently, what does that mean to you? It really means a lot to me to my name high up in the top 100’s of websites such as tranceaddict and UK trance alliance, many thanks to all of you who voted for me! Unfortunately I did not make the DJ mag chart again, I won’t mention too much about this subject as many DJ’s already have, but it upsets you can see the blatant corruption. What are your plans for the future? It might be a surprise to many to hear that I have started work on my first artist album. I’ve only had 2 releases before this, but I’m really excited about doing this album. The tracks and ideas Rob and I have got down so far sound really good and I’m gunning for this to be ready for a March 2007 release. --------- Neil Navarra from Gods - Why did Godskitchen choose to have a residency in Newcastle? Newcastle is a very vibrant and thriving city, with a great party scene, and educated club goers. It seemed an obvious choice, especially with it being home to a great venue such as Digital. Do you think it can be successful? Without a shadow of a doubt. The GK club concept, we feel, adds an extra dimension to clubbing. We put a lot of emphasis on production and great dj talent, giving the paying customer more for their money. Was there a reason behind choosing Paul Oakenfold for the opening night? Paul has been fantastic over the years, we wanted to open with a bang, and what better way? Godskitchen in Birmingham covers many genres of dance, will a similar thing happen in Newcastle? I think the boundaries in dance music are slowly disappearing, 20 years ago, DJ’s played dance music and were not claiming to be of any particular genre, this philosophy is again being adopted in a lot of DJ’s sets. I personally think its fantastic as it keeps things fresh. So yes, you can expect the unexpected. Can you give us any clues as regards to future line-ups? We’re in talks with a few parties, so I can’t confirm anything at the moment, but I can tell you its gonna be big. Can we have Matt Hardwick back up here soon, haha? I’m sure we can sort something.,.....
Re: Jon O'Bir/Godskitchen talk about Gods @ Digital Like at the last arena event, 3 fruit machines and old American car and called it a "Vegas extravaganza"
Re: Re: Jon O'Bir/Godskitchen talk about Gods @ Digital There would of been uproar in Bensham that night when the local social club was 3 bandits down eh
