    Jenas on his way ?

Jermaine Jenas has been left out of Newcastle's InterToto Cup tie with Dubnica on Sunday.

The 22-year-old's absence will only intensify speculation linking Jenas with a move to Arsenal.

After Patrick Vieira's departure to Juventus, and Edu's earlier transfer to Valencia, Arsene Wenger is desperate to find a quickfire solution to his central midfield shortage before the start of the forthcoming campaign.

The timing of Vieira's move means that Wenger has little time to bed in a new acquisition, making Jenas' Premiership experience a considerable plus point should the Arsenal boss move for the player.

Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd and manager Graeme Souness have both ruled out any move for Jenas, saying that the England international would cost a lot more than Arsenal received for Vieira.

However, the absence of Jenas from the InterToto set-up only increases question marks over the midfielder's Newcastle future.

Souness stated at the press conference on Friday: "We're not in the business of selling our best players and I'm not going to talk about it."

Stephen Carr is also absent from the squad for Sunday, with Newcastle saying that the two players have been given extra rest after being on international duty at the end of last season.

i dont want him to go but...

If he goes, it will be for stupid money! which we could use to bring in a defender or striker, which is what we really need.

also the swap deal mention with campell + cash, wouldnt be bad, would sort out that defender problem we have

anyway souness is resting all the players who played extra games after the season finished, dont think its anything more than that at the mo

I think he will become a very good player, but atm, I'd like him to go, because last season he was shit. If Arsenal would give us 10mil plus Sol, I'd bite there hands off!

As good as Campbell is he's injury prone to fuck

Can you really see us givng him £100,000 a week as well - the wages he chose as he was a free transfer.

He's only on 60k at Arsenal, we'd give him that. If Arsenal are prepared to let him go, he know's he isn't first choice anymore, would just depend who else would come in for him though

He should of been one of them who got us turned around, he's got the quality, but still he was shit 95% of the time!

Shola would be one of the first on my hit list if I was the manager! I think he would of gone by now if we had any strikers, and wasn't injured!

But we need players who are going to do a job now. I'd rather have Bowyer in the middle with Parker than Jenas, he hasn't got the bottle. Are you saying you wouldn't accept £12M for JJ?

I'd take Saviola, supposed to be a wanker though, so we'd be getting rid of one of them, and buying another

I think Jenas is and always has been a waste of space.
Then again its probably Newcastle that have held back his potential.
I'm sure 99% of players that join us are cursed the moment they sign their contract
