is it possible to tell before purchasing a pc/notepad whether it will play dvd's that are not originals?
Re: is it possible to tell it's the software that does the decoding. As long as it's got a DVDrom in it - you'll need something like PowerDVD or WinDVD.

Re: Re: Re: is it possible to tell Yup. it's a -R format which seems at the moment to be the most popular/compatible format. Except mircosoft works is shit. other than that, it'll be ok. Don't go getting any ideas that it's a doddle to copy DVD's though....
