ip3 gonna get somethin to replace my flinstones minidisc this week.... was thinkin of gettin an i-river rather than an i-pod... or an mp3 player... anyone any got any recs?
To be fair if you want to listen to quality sounding music on the move then even an Ipod mini is spot on. 1000 tunes (or x amount of sets), a piece of piss to use and Itunes (the supplied software) is pretty good imo.. I know the anti apple/ipod vultures will be out with their "this is better blah blah blah" but it plays tunes and it sounds good.... its what i wanted. 18 hour battery life aswell
hmmm might go buy a i-river now... cant be arsed waiting to see if its cheaper on ebay... i want one NOW.
Scruff . ive had an Iriver HP120 for about a year now and I would go as far as to say its probbaly the best thing I have ever bought Sound quality is FAR superior to any ipod Battery life is around 14hours You can record straight onto it (recording mixes , live performances etc) through either Line In , Internal Mic or the included External plugin Mic You get a wicked remote control with it to save you take it out your pocket everytime you want to listen to a new track You can play OGG files which offer much better sound quality than MP3 and take up less space DONT get an Ipod mate , there are far better options available
Yup. I've got an H140 which is spot on, but the 'joystick' is a bit fiddly. You get the colour screen with the H340 and seperate cursor buttons. Another good reason to get an iRiver is that your computer will recognise it as another hard drive so you can stick owt you want on it if you need to transfer files. The iPod only lets you transfer music through iTunes. Take a look on the iRiver website, the 6GB H10 looks a nice bit of kit if the 40GB H340 is too much.

im still using a beat up old sony discman..... i am a student tho... so i can pass it off as being retro.
right think i'm goin with the i-river.. heard that the software is nigh on impossible to use though.. and its not possible to stop a track half way thru
It's nowhere near as easy to use as the ipod - but unless you're a total simpleton, you'll have it sussed in 2 days Also, there's no fucking around with itunes, and all that bollocks, plug into all your mates computers and steal their tuneage Well worth the slight effort to get into. Within a year or so, you should start seeing alternative firmware coming out from a group called rockbox, promising thousands of extra functions and gapless playback and stuff....
Oh yeah, I don't know about the 300 series, but on my h120, there is a quality feature where you can set it to flick through live sets 7 minutes, or whatever, a time. Absolutely legendary, makes it so much easier.
just checked them out on the iriver site and they look well sexual. able to view photos, listen to radio stations and store any files on them = winner
got myself a spankin i-river mini thing in the end... tried to charge it at work tonight then realised i had the power lead in the headphone socket all night
