    Intel centrino - laptops

What are your experiences of using this technology? Is it any good? Can you connect anywhere? And what manufacturers of laptops would you recommend? I'm looking to buy soon and could do with some 'word of mouth' info.

centrinos are designed to provide optimum performance for wireless applications, hence why centrinos don't offer the fastest processor speeds, but they make up in power consumption and weight.

Sorry, what I mean is, is the wireless connection any good? I'd get really annoyed if it kept disconnecting itself every few minutes.

all depends on the signal strength - connection speeds can be well fast...

U shouldnt have any connection problems with them.

Only thing to watch out for when you get your laptop is...

Graphics...make sure it has DEDICATED graphics card and is NOT shared....cos then it uses ur system RAM and its an instant bottleneck in performance.

As a rule centrino's provide about double the battery life of non-centrino laptops...

i have centrino built into my toshiba portege A100 (small white and light to carry about), i use it at home, i can even sit out in the back yard whilst online, when i go to uni it only takes a few clicks to get online there, the only reason i have any problems switching is that my home connection is an Ad-hoc network, meaning it wont pick up the settings automatically, but thats my fault!

brilliant piece of kit, i really couldnt do without it :)
