    Infected PC

PC at home is infected with this ...

The virus softawre I have is ADV or something like that and it detects it but doesn't 'heal' it all. I have tried deleting the exe files from WIN.INI but it keeps coming back.

I must be missing the source, any advice / idiots guide on how to get rid of it?

u using XP? Turn off 'System Restore' by right clicking on 'My Computer' - this is how some of the recent viruses are coming back. Repeat the manual removal steps once you've done this.

Also - Can u get online ok? if so - Go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ for a free, online virus scanner.

That should hopefully clear it. Once you've done that, Open IE, Goto Tools > Windows Update. Get ALL the critical patches. Job Done!

if you're not running XP - disregard all instructions about Tool>Windows update and System Restore - they're XP only. You on Win98? this doesn't need patches - Still go for the Housecall virus scanner to get it. And get a firewall. Zone Alarm is ok. I prefer BlackIce.
