Indoor climbing Just been for about 45mins today and christ is it hard work. Obviously with me not having lessons and just clambering up the wall I'll not have the techniques right, but after two climbs my forearms were like baseball bats and I had no strength left in my hands to grip. And being up high makes ur palms sweat a bit more than usual which doesn't help at all It's fun and I'm gonna start doing it as often as i can to get fit. It will be great for core and upper body strength and conditioning.
its mint in my opinion, so much harder than it looks , i did it at the army faciltity in Kattrick it was spot on there! did you work in tandom with a partner so when he fell off you got shot up in the air to counter-act it and break the fall? its a right hoot when its like that
Yeah you mean a belay system. If the person climbing weighs much more than you then you're supposed to secure yourself to the floor to avoid getting shot up in the air lol. Not doing that is dangerous especially if there are ledges etc I used that, and I used an automatic counterweight system of some sort.
"belay" thats what it was called! tghe fella i was doig it with was quite a lot heavier than me, it was fucking great when he fell off, i took off about 12 feet
Well ur lucky there wasn't a ledge 11 foot under where he fell from otherwise the big fella would probably have wanted to smash your face in I was at the one in Newburn, might be going to the one in Sunderland soonish and with a lot of luck i may get a free membership out of it. 23m high!
I tend to end up crawling the walls myself when i go to a mates for a sniff or an MD / Ket sesh these days without having to travel to far.
