I've recently placed myself under self imposed quarantine.

I doubt I'll ever leave the house again for fear of getting flu or common cold.

they're worried the bird flu virus could mutate into something far more deadly and affect humans...

its all good and well for us to sit back and say 'it doesnt exist' but then we live in a stable cold climate country.. so were bound to be complacent...

is the bird flu pandemic such an unbelievable scenario? why?

they say WHEN it mutates and starts being passed from human to human (which they think might be happening now but not confirmed) it COULD kill upto 56,000 people in the UK alone. they're stock piling 14million doses to cover 25% of the population who they expect might contract it. The young and old, as always, are the most at risk.

if they didn't stock pile the supplies, imagine the uproar of "why didn't they do enough"

i'm not too worried... yet... but i'm concerned for the young 'uns

If they didn't stock-pile the supplies, who'd be out of pocket? ;)
