If I was to get a 2nd hand Xbox 360..

What is the deal with the warranty, as I know they can be prone to fucking up.

Also, are the 360's registered to someone's name or address upon first using it? I dunno if I heard this or not it was a while ago. Maybe it was just the gamertag or whatever it is.. is that permanently embedded into the console as some sort of ID? I'd hate to get the red lights after a week and have no way of getting it fixed/replaced by Microsoft.

I ask because I have a brand new N95 (not the 8GB) to sell/trade and I don't particularly have a need for a swanky phone these days.

Just the gamertag which you can delete.

TO be honest you might as well get a brand new premium for £169.99 with 60 gig drive.

If your getting a second hand all of them come with 3 year warranty because of the RROD which microsoft will replace. The newer once from about march this year have a different chip set in them though which makes it highly unlikely to get that fault so you's just need to try find out what model it is.

I'm just thinking about what will bag me the most entertainment. I'm skint atm due to a 5 day a week course that is unpaid so this money from the phone will be all I have to spend on an xbox and I'd like a selection of games too :p

If I was able to send a 2nd hand xbox off to MS for repair without them telling me I wasn't covered then I'd be in the same boat as I would with a new one really, since all broken xbox's now have to be sent back to MS, don't they?

They can be fixed for around £25-30 anyway mate.
Not advisable if its under warranty but otherwise not a bad thing.

Is that not just for the RRoD? If some other kind of fault occured like it overheated or something, that would surely be a hardware replacement jobbie?

My mates overheated and Microsoft were pissing him about, sending him power cables etc when he knew what was wrong.
A local guy fixed it and replaced whatever for £25.
I'm not sure exactly what he did because i'm not technical.
