    IE problems

I've been having problems with my Internet Exporer. WHen I open up a new window I get a second window 'about:blank' which I can't close down even through the task manager.

And when I try to open a new window from a link it doesn't work (like for pms)

    Any ideas anyone?

Spybot doesn't find anything so I'm going back to AVG

AVG is anti virus though...unless you have the paid package? This is probably a Spyware issue - one is not a substitute for the other.

    Try AdAware or Windows Defender

It wouldn't be called avg anti spyware if it was an anti virus programme would it? It's been running for 5 minutes and has found loads of stuff already.

Since I started using Spybot my computer has been slow as hell and it has never found anything. It's shite :D

it's far from shite - not every spyware program can find every instance of spyware which is why i suggested you try more than one.

Sorry just when people say AVG they tend to mean their free anti virus software.

Nowt like throwing help back in someones face eh

I've had nowt but bother since I started using spybot and it's never found anything on my computer. I never had any problems with AVG but stopped using it cos I kept getting messages from them saying it wasn't gonna be free anymore

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that AVG sorts my current problem. A few people have told me that the about:blank is a bitch to get rid of :(

about:blank in itself is not actually spyware, it's a valid IE command.

However, spyware abuse it for reasons I will never understand.

In my experience mind it's usually gone without too much of a fight.

Make sure System Restore is off.

Use AS MANY possible different spyware removers (well, 3 at least) Spybot, Windows Defender and Ad-Aware.

Decent viruses/spyware take advantage of this, you could spend hours, cleaning/sorting your PC, you reboot, it restores itself. start all over again...

It took 3 to sort it. Different ones find loads of other stuff.

I'm not going back to one after the bother I had getting rid of that about:blank
