Re: Re: I require the services of... Sr. aceptable incompleto, pero si u lo cupiera y u rompió mi estereofonia o coche que usted estaría en una posición lejos peor que apenas durmiendo respecto al 'huffy' ¡acueste, usted estaría gozando del alimento del hospital!
how to do it: My Yaris had a tape player as stock, i'm not sure how much different it is if you have a CD player as stock, I can only guess it is pretty similar. I'm fairly sure you can fit more or less any single DIN unit to the yaris, my choice was a Pioneer deh-3400r which wasn't the easiest unit to fit but i'll get to that later. What you need Decent philips screwdriver small flat head screwdriver (some of the connectors are hard to pull apart when the dash is off, you might want to use this to help lever them off) PC2-17-4 Car audio connector (this can be bought from halfords at £11.99 and you need this to connect your headunit to the yaris) *Note* remove the key from ignition while you are installing the headunit. Otherwise you risk blowing a fuse like I did which leads to immense frustration which you don't need Taking the dash off There are two stages involved in taking off the dash completely in order to get to the slot where you will put your head unit, the small black cash box under the existing tape/cd player. Stage 1) There are 3 heater knobs, the ones that control the direction of air, the speed of the air, and the heat - pull the 1st and 2nd ones off. They come off quite easily and push back on when you are finished. Now you will see 2 screws where the heater knobs were, unscrew them and put them in a safe place. Now the top part of the dash is only held on by clips, to remove this part of the dash simply take hold of either side of the top part of the dash and pull sharply. There are 2 hooks as the top which are quite awkward, try moving it around at the top and you will unhook the top dash completely. Now behind the top dash there are some connectors, this is where you can use the flat head screwdriver to aid u in pulling them out. Push down on the release button and pull to remove each connector. You can't put them back in the wrong slots when you come to putting the dash back together so don't worry about it. When the top dash is totally free rest it on the passenger seat or somewhere out of the way. Stage 2) This stage is removing the lower dash, to do this first remove the ash tray. You will see 2 screws where the ash tray was, unscrew these and keep them safe. Where you removed the top dash there is now a white plastic frame which is held on by 3 clips, 2 on either side and one on the top, unclip this completely and move it up slightly, you can now see 2 more screws holding the bottom dash in place, just under the plastic frame. Unscrew these and you can now remove the bottom dash with a sharp tug, same way in how you removed the top. more connectors and wires similar to the top dash can be found behind the lower dash, unplug these and you haae a free floating lower dash. Unscrew the screws that hold the black cash box in place and get rid of that, you should be able to now insert the headunit from the back and screw it in place. However if like me your headunit is too fat to go in from either the front or back then you may have to cut away at the edges of the hole a little to square it up, a sharp knife is best for this. A little at a time will ensure you don't cut too much, it's really just trial and error. Once the headunit is in and secured with screws simply use the PC2-17-4 adaptor to plug the connectors into the back of the new headunit as well as the power, make sure it all works by turning the ignition on. Congratulations you've installed an aftermarket CD player into your yaris! :group-cuddles: put all the connectors and screws back, re-attach both parts of the dash and you're done!! if you do it the way they describe however you will end up with two head units (old one not working tho) and the new one where the storage bit is. they claim the best thing to have done is: 'Seems to me that this is a very awkward way of changing the radio, the way i did it in the GF car was to order a type II dash surround fro the car from toyota which accepts a double din H/Unit to which a RAV 4 Double din to Single din Convertor fits. Thus you can remove the old head unit completley and hyave a small storage hole underneath making a much neater finish in my opinion. I will take some photos at the weeend as i a m removing the assembley before the car is traded against a T- Sport.' so maybe the place you went to were right... although you can have it fitted without the rav4 bit... but if ya dont ya gonna have two head units.
there is no way i'd risk doing it myself & unless someone seemed capable & had done this sort of thing b4 theres no way i'd let someone do else do it!
Re: Re: Re: I require the services of... i best leave it then, i can handle the huffy sofa.... but hospital food....
well, it seems your options are as follows: A) get the rav4 thing done and have it done 'properly' (only one headunit in car) B) give the instructions i have shown ya to someone capable and ask em to have a bash but end up with two head units. i think ya will struggle to find someone with expeience of doing this to yaris's because they clearly are a twat to do it to i know some people who do this kind of stuff, but im willing to bet they've never done a yaris and well, i dont know how good they are anyway to be fair... i think i have about as much knowledge as they do... hope ya get it sorted anyway....
your best bet is probably to phone around a few companies that do such things and ask em... you never know.... if they are cofused by the process tell them you will print off the instructions i found ya and take em along for em

If you but your cd player from Argos they do free fitting on some. me and my missus have a Yaris. Love it!
they point blank refused & this time the cock n bull story was that u need a bracket to fit the stereo into cos the gap is bigger for factory fitted units but i wasn't allowed to buy it & give to the bloke cos that wud invalidate my free fitting but they wudn't go to toyota & get it for me! not to worry looks like i'm getting these now.... http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/productdetails/index.asp?modelcode=API-CDE9828RB&clear= & hopefully these..mite have someone to fit the unit but am after back speakers too.....& it'll b easier to do the lot at the same time rather than removing my dash again! heres the speakers: http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/productdetails/index.asp?modelcode=API-SPS130A&clear=
