I need to hook my mixer up to my pc.

I have tried messing on for a bit and short of calling out a professional I thought Id ask the main ppl first.

My Dell pc has a standard soundcard - a crystal thing and also a one with like 6 holes in. (you know what I mean)

now I need to hook my fx7000 up to this and it just aint working. the music is "bleeding" through and its all gone to pot.

can i have some simple instructions on how to set it all up.

maybe I need to change some options in the multimedia and sound options but i dont really know.

I also have this traktor and Juski says its shit so I got PCDJ.
I would like to get traktor to work but I cant choose a different sound card for the the other deck.

HELP in anyway possible would be great !

to connect your mixer to your pc, all you need to do is get a RCA - mini jack cable. Take this from a master (or booth) output, and plug it into the LINE IN input on your soundcard.

Make sure the volume is up in the windows sound settings (little speaker icon in the toolbar at the bottom of your screen).

    That should be all!

As for traktor...dont use it so cant comment.

Are you getting the sound from your rear/front channels "bleeding" across onto the other channels (for instance your monitor channels with the next track playing in them, being heard on the "live" output).... might be because you have a soundblaster Live card.

Ive heard that there isnt full separation between the front and rear channels on those... that might be it.

From what you're describing, your crystal soundcard has "Front Out" and "Rear Out" sockets (should be green and black respectively). Unless your soundcard is a Soundblaster Live! (or compatible), PCDJ won't allow you to use these two as separate outputs. You're best off with traktor in this case, even though it is crap. However, this is unlikely to fix your bleeding problem, Crystal cards are notorious for this. Best off to use two separately and make sure there are no internal audio lines crossing over the cards.

As for hooking it up to the mixer - are you recording or playing?

For recording from mixer to PC, you need a phono (red + white connectors) to 3.5mm jack. For best results hook it up to the 'record' output on your mixer to the "Line In" on your PC - the "record" output is unamplified and means you won't fry your soundcard.

If you are playing from PC to mixer, you need one of the above cables for EACH output you are connecting to the mixer. On my setup at home, I have two soundcard outputs on separate channels in addition to my two CD decks. It's best to connect the leads to LINE or CD on the back of your mixer for each channel.
