I Love Blunderland!!!!!!!! Another great move by the gimps I wouldnt mind the Toon nabbing him, the bloke is top drawer. Sunderland vice-chairman John Fickling today outlined a restructuring of the club's academy operations, which will see Mick McCarthy take over responsibility for player development. The new framework means academy director Kees Zwamborn, who joined Sunderland 15 months ago, will leave the club by mutual agreement. Former Ajax coach Zwamborn was responsible for managing the Academy of Light and overseeing the acquisition and development of young players. McCarthy and his coaching team will now take over those duties. Fickling said: "Kees has done a superb job in transforming and modernising our academy operations and has put in place all the necessary systems and processes for us to make best use of our world class academy facilities. "However we appointed Kees as a Premiership club with the associated financial resources but sadly circumstances have changed and that is no longer the case. "In the current climate, there is a need to reduce costs whilst maintaining a quality academy operation and this is why we have regrettably agreed to part company. "We would like to thank Kees for the job he's done and we wish him all the best for the future. "Moving forward, existing club personnel will continue to manage day to day operations at the Academy under the guidance of Mick McCarthy with a view to promoting younger players to the senior squads."
