    How would you change Digital.

So now the Battle for Digital has been won, what would people change about it?

I like the space and think it has potential, personally i'd:

    * Drop the DJ booth.

*Get rid of those shit prison-esque bars that divide the dancefloor from the back part.

    * Get rid of those seats at the back under the big mirrors where all the scenesters who don't dance or get involved congregate and talk about how much their haircut cost.

Know alot of people have been dissing the venue recently, so if you were in charge what would you lot change to make it how you'd like it to be?

    Haha? Really?

Haven't been to the Dig for a while due to saving for a crib.

When did they go? Horrible bit of design them like.

I'd block out the bars, to enclose that space, and then take out the left hand side exit/entrance to the dance floor which would suddenly eliminate most of the pushing and shoving that comes from people coming in and out of that place.

Something needs to be done about the lairy cattle they are letting in there - Get some non bouncer security staff in there who's job is to keep a look out for trouble and nothing more there.

The outside smokers area is total shit as well - how about some seats or heaters out there ... its like a refugee holding pen out there at times, and bloody freezing to boot.

iu'm sure they opened some side door past the cloakroom once and used that to let smokers in and out - that seems better than the 3rd room cut-thru

Defo lower the DJ booth - do something to the dance floor to work the crowd control

Agree'd - the DJ booth is elevated to 'looking up at god' type heights, which do nothing more than stroke a DJ's ego in their own ivory tower dj booth whilst taking any sense of personality out being in the club ....

Booth is alright i reckon, my only real gripe is that they need to open out the dance floor a little bit. Maybe have 2 bars at the back of the club where the seating area is. Keep the bar that's there where it is and extend it right down the back wall to the security door. Take the bar out that's next to the dance floor and relocate those stupid tables that kind of hem in the space. Upgrade the lighting rig get some shit hot lasers and some better projectors.

never going to happen though is it i doubt they will change the lay out iof the club.

    Course i havent.

I dont spend much, if any, time gawking at a DJ these days, with the exception of a few rare instances where i feel like the DJ is making a great connection with the crowd.

Theres nothing wrong with looking at the jock, but PERSONALLY i think having to crane your neck to look at some flashing lights in the sky feels more like a scene from close encounters than clubbing ;)

Lower the DJ Booth and make it so the dance floor is in the corner.

I hate the fact that when you walk into digital, all you have to do is effectively turn left and you have that little path leading up to the elevated corner next to the DJ booth. There's a projector next to the steps if any of you are wondering what the hell I am on about.

First thing people tend to do when they walk into a bar or club is head to the bar. As is, when you walk into Digital you can just about see both - chances are you'll chance one of the crowds.

Clubbers would prefer it if those who aren't dancing or whatever push through the crowds of those who're standing and drinking.

I definitely think the club should be sectioned off into two main areas more so than what that tiny wall they have achieves. Some people hate it, but I think at least if they did what I'm suggesting, one could spend a night on the dance floor at Digital without having to dodge elbows and limply clutched vodkas as much.

[By the 'wall', I mean the 'prison bar' thing - the one to the left of the cloak room stall if you can imagine you were in it.]

As for that little path I mentioned. Turn those into more wall seats or couchs with tables or something - I'd rather the trendoid hair-cut crew were sitting than walking.

But yeah, stretch that little wall off.

Main reason why I like Cosmic is that the dance floor is something you walk to, not through - then again, I like smaller, more intimate kinda clubs.

Digital feels a bit Gala Bingo'ish in terms of it's open-aired feel.

above all the elaborate move this, shift that talk, people are forgeting that legital only has one set of bogs.

why on earth didin't they put some in upstairs. the other rooms nextdoor has 2 sets of bogs!!

too many bottle-necks in the club downstairs....

....from the entrance a cash machine with a big queue, then just beyond that the cloak room with a big queue, inbetween them is the exit to the smoking "pen".
after you've fought thru that you have to contned with the off-it's in cock ally, then the massive bottle neck that is the one bog entrance, then the 12 deep bar, then the stairs/dancefloor trampling zone......

anyone else noticed that the back stairs are pretty much always clear?

Si quick is so cool.... he turns up at a club to see a dj, then goes into another room JUST to prove how much he isnt looking at him.

Howay man .... people face towards the dj box, whether they are looking right at him or not, clubs like that are designed with the sole purpose of the dj being a performing 'focal point'.
