how to be a superstar dj or so it seems

ever fancyed a slot at a larger club ? or a hands in the air moment in the dj booth , well look no futher , this is what u must have to do lol

edited to miss out info , i had a chuckle like when it was in my emailbox

    ...........

This event you have to buy 30 tickets in advance in return for an hour slot ----------------. Tickets are sold at £15 and of that of you get to keep £3 so your'll earn £90 if you sell all your tickets. If you need more we can get them. There is one slot left for July and I have only just got the date for September but already shifted a couple of sets. Both dates ------- is in the main room with a more housey headliner in the Bar.

    ...........

whatever happen to actualy sending demos to promotors these days

To be fair, most promoters I know do this in a more subtle way! dont sell many tickets = get a shit set time or no set at the next event

there once was a time where if you wanted to get a gig, you contacted the promoter, gave them a demo, if they liked it, you went on first and you went on for free.

if they liked you, they ask for you back. you get a better time slot and you get at least your expenses. drinks, fuel etc... they asked you back, get it? you were good, people pay for good things

i was recently asked if i wanted to play a similar gig. "all you have to do is sell x amount of tickets and.."

hold on, you didn't even ask what type of house i played and i'm getting a gig because i can sell a couple of tickets?

fuck that. that sounds like the worst party ever - 5 groups of different individuals all waiting around while the shit dj gets off so they can cheer their mates on!

no thanks, i'd rather play the timewarp. at least you're in a room where everyone's on the same page

-just had this in my facebook inbox, it was sent to the members of the Trance Newcastle group. (which by the looks of it, is ran by a bunch of mongs) its the second last paragraph which is the main point.

    Hi guys.

We've chose the venue for the event with the formal proceedings being the only detail to be finished. The day is also a FRIDAY - a night that should give everyone a better chance of attending since most group members are either students or full time workers.

The first event will be held in August, the date hasn't been confirmed but it's likely to be the week before the bank holiday weekend. I know August is a long time away but it gives everyone a better chance of organising something spectacular and worthwhile, we don't want anything half hearted after all!

I was informed that we've had a lot of interest in this night and as part of HappyDaze and Trance Newcastle I'm glad to be able to bring you a night you all deserve.

We're still to be decided on a line up. So any DJ's out there, please message me personally with your availability for Fridays in August... An mp3 of your music would be preferred but if that's not feasible we'll work around it. We're keen to mix local with national talent and therefore we bare no boundary.

Anyone think they can get a big group down to this event? How does getting paid for it sound? I might have some interesting opportunities for you if this is the case.

I look forward to hearing from each and everyone of you, opinions are more than welcome and I guess I'll be seeing you in August.

    Rhys.

I don't even do demo's as i am pefectionist and have very little time/something goes wrong every time i record.

I tend to getsets from people hearing me play live and asking me back or to other gigs knowing poeple helps who run nights though soundsystem work.

But i am not producer so really just play for love of it and hear the records i buy on decent and sometimes not so decent systems in newcastle and the free party/ Squat party scene.
