How much should it cost for a weekend in amsterdam?

I'm well up for a day trip in November for the 'Amsterdam Weekender' where you get 2 days on the ship and a day in the dam, but the ship looks like a non-stop party the whole time. My m8's however are determined to goto the dam and stay there for a night (2 days there).

How much have people been paying in total this year with hostel + travel included?

I've done a search for a ferry only which would give us 2 full days there and it was gonna cost about £70 each or about £85 with a bus included to get us to the city centre and back. I don't know which hostels are best for young people though as I've heard a lot of places have either been rejecting English groups or aren't fond of letting young groups stay there.

Any pointers appreciated. I'm looking to book for the end of october.

I went last year in November & it was £40 for the boat & only spent £100 I think so £140 at the most as I was really fucked & had no money left when I got back.

I dont think I could hack a night in Amsterdam, seems dodgy as fuck to me like!

I once went for 4 days and spent £650

I blitzed about 500 quid in 3 nights like. But that included all kinds of spendature

I'm more concerned about the cost to get there and stay in a hostel. I forgot to point that out

I've been before but that was about 3/4 years ago so I know there are ways to cope if you happen to get low on spending money

The 'Amsterdam Weekender' trip is £124

Cost me about 200 quid to fly over, and stop in a 5* marriot for 3 nights.

I'd never want to put my self in that sort of situation. Imagine stumbling through the entrance of a Marriot hotel stoned out of your tits with a few shrooms kicking in.

Hostel only I'm afraid cos you get away with all that sort of behaviour and nobody cares. (unless it's one of the places i've heard about that have been rejecting Brittish groups cos we're all plonkers)

I have been smashed in many a nice, and work paid for hotel in the Dam, and the staff have remained great.

Even when, full of shrooms, had to go down to the lobby to get my key restamped.

it just wouldn't feel right being in a city that allows drug taking and prostitution only to return to a 5 star hotel at the end of the night It would feel like I was cheating.

Were going for 4 days in nov for armin only (if it gets comfirmed) 2 days in the amster 2 days in rotterdam.
love the place, think will be moving there in a few years

the answer to the original question is hard to call.

it all depends on how much money you wanna spend...

i always stay here been in some right states never had any probs very laid back

The bulldog hostel is cheap as chips. I went for 2 nights in July 2005 and it cost £30. It's a 5 Star hostel with Breakfast included. Has it's own bar and they are 'smoke friendly' (except in the rooms)

I'd always say fly, but i'm an impatient cunt. Jet2 have stopped flying from Newcastle now, but you could fly (return) for around £50 when they did. Try KLM, you may get a good deal in advance.

Spending money-wise; well i spent £200 in 2 days (and could have spent more) but it depends on your habits i suppose. Beers are about €3.50 a pint. Weed is anything from €6 upwards per gram. Never done the red light so i wouldn't know there

When did u go last m8 ? Its on average 5 euro's a pint at the mo , some places it goes up to 6 euro 50 on a nite time and the grasshopper is 8 euro a pint !!
