How much do top DJs get at our clubs for a set?

For example - M.I.K.E. at Promise - how much would he get for doing a couple of hours? How much would they get at Godskitchen? I'm not comparing clubs at all, that's not what I mean i'm just wondering if its £50? £100? £300? Etc. Im clue-less.

Its not 100's Nass its alot more for some !

Oakenfold charges in the region of £25,000 or so Mixmag said when they run an article on what DJ's earn - thats not the half of it there tho as they demmand drinks in the DJ Booth, hotels to be booked for them / mates / family n the likes !

It also said that Seb Fontaine slagged off GC's DJ Booth for being sticky so next time he was on they left him some slippers

Its good money being a DJ thats for sure !

Shock horror, should a DJ not expect to be sorted out with drinks when he plays at a club????

Yelloboy - For a start this article was from Mixmag who had looked into it and at the time found that Carl Cox was charging a hell of alot too - if ya remember rightly Judge Jules was meant to have got paid a hell of alot for 2000GC which was run in the papers too ! As for Oakey @ Home in London i do know that he was charging a hell of alot because a lass that i work withs best mate used to be the manager of the place ! She's now left since all that hassle and workd for Virgin !

And when u try and take the piss saying "Shock Horror" fair enough some might or should be allocated drinks but i dont think to an extent where there gonna be falling out a DJ Booth like ive heard about some !

pisshead djs piss me right off. cos they are so many other peeps like people on this board who could play just as gud a set given a chance. it annoys me when superstar djs turn up get hammered and fuck up they set and get paid loads for it!

Im posting from expeirience, I work with Mauro as part of his management and it annoys me when poeple post shit like this.

The JJ story back in 2000 about 2000GC ended up a huge mess due to that newspaper article and he was investigated by the inland revenue.

What business is it of anyone's to know how much DJ's get paid????

Many of the DJs have a stake in their dj agency or joint own/run it

    Not that many overheads

Because some people on here work for the DSS/Inland Revenue!
Some people want to be superstar DJs so they need to know the going rate
There are few DJ groupies on here and they need who earns what

and the rest of us are just a bunch of nosey bastards

All due respect Nasser, no-one's gonna tell ya!

There are obviously some God-like DJs whose wage has occasionally slipped out though, for example John Digweed famously once being paid £30,000 for a set.

Fergie played in Newcastle a few years ago, think it was at the University, I know he got £3,000 for that set.
His status has somewhat rocketed since then though, so it's probably gone up a little ;)

Gotta remember that it isn't about the money though (for some anyway!).

I know it's not all about the money, with a few exceptions. It was just something I pondered.

At the end of the day some of the prices that DJs charge are simply rediculous. Alot of "DJ personalities" get far too much for what they want cp a certain ex metro radio DJ who is being flown from Manchester, given a £200 hotel room, as well as a performance fee 5 times what the resident DJs at this un-named club get. What pisses me off is that the residents are nearly always better with Richard Tulip the obvious example.

But remember Sundissential NE @ Cuba Cuba. None of the DJs were paid at all. They all agreed to play for free as they wanted to make the night a success. Some of the top DJs in the land played here showing that not everyone in the industry is money grabbing.

But at the end of the day the big names still pull the crowds even with the industry in the fragile state that it currently is. Until this changes, I personally think that clubland will struggle. Imagine the amount of extra features a night could get if someone like Jules only charged £100. Ah well we can only dream on!

Got Alex P on Saturday so carnage is inevitable!!! Then a week on Sat i'm playing the amin room @ Arcane so will be fun.

Daz is promising to get mortal this week. He is so funny when he gets drunk, especially when he starts shouting at charvas down the mic. Give us a msg next time your down and we'll sort you out on the g/l.

Take care and hopefully will see you soon
