How do you stop words from being over-written in Word?

all of a sudden when I try to edit text in Word, instead of adding text before letters it deletes/overwrites whatever is written infront of it. How can i stop this? I need this work done for tommorow and I can't do it when this happens

*sorry for yet again asking for help :p You can delete this thread after I've sorted this out.
