How do I change my IP address?

I'm trying to download stuff from rapidshare but it keeps telling me to wait 90 minutes before I can download again  I used to just reconnect to the internet to change my IP but now that I use a router I'm not sure how you do it. If I turn it off and on again I need to log off and on to windows before the internet will work. Is there a quicker way?

you'll have to connect to the router and release it's IP then renew it. depends what sort of router you have. if it's ADSL, do it from your command prompt, if it's cable, you'll have to turn the modem off then on again.

Or use a proxy. they do that to stop idiots abusing the priviledge.....

    try :

    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew

but that will probably only do your private IP (192.168..) as issued by the router if you've got DHCP on.

if you've got a telnet client, you can telent straight to the modem and give the commands correctly to it...

Cheers. Tried that but like you said, it's only affected the private IP.

It doesn't matter anyway now that I've broken my ear drums  I won't be trying random music cd's anymore.
