Dvd decyptor to rip the dvd to your hdisk, then use dvd2one if you don't know what you are doing. CCE if you do. doom9.org for guides and stuff

Nero is crap for burning, makes non compatible dvds, use any prassi product, stomp record now max for example.

Heh i know what i'm doing, trust! Trust me if you want dvds that will work on every player don't use nero to build them for you :)

I use transcoding software to rip dvds as i rip so many i dont have time to encode with CCE. Pinacle instant copy is the best transcoding software, no contest.

Yes, it depends what you want. Unless you have spot on equipment it will be hard to see the difference, between a transcode, a proper re-encode though and the difference is clear. I download most of my dvds as well so they are scene encoded with CCE.

Yeh it does all depend on how well they have been mastered, region 3 discs are notoriously badly mastered. Major blockbusters tend to have a lot of time spent on the mastering.
