How can i connect my Xbox to my new monitor?

I have a 360 premium (with VGA/Component leads) and my new monitor has a VGA input, and a DVI-D input.

I initially thought i'd be able to pick up an adaptor to plug the compoent cables into the DVI-D port for HD video. Is this possible?

Otherwise it looks like it's gonna have to be a RCA to VGA adaptor for the xbox, and either switch the pc/xbox around whenever i'm using either one, or maybe buy a graphics card with DVI output so i connect the pc to the DVI-D input.

Any suggestions for this? I was really hoping I could connect my 360 using HD :(

I've had a quick look around.. and it appears that there are VGA to DVI adapters.. however they simply just supply the analog signal.. the digital section of the DVI plug carries no data.. as the original signal was analog.

If your 360 premium was manufactured after July 2007 then it should have an HDMI option.. which is best as it provides you with 1080p over 1080i/720p.

*just seem that your monitor has only VGA and DVI.. :(

Hope that makes sense.. it does in my brain.. but sometimes I over analyze things.

No, I have one cable that splits off into one set of red/white/yellow cables (RCA), and another set of blue/red/green cables (component video). The red/white/yellow are used for standard input/displays in the same way as they are with any console. There's a switch however, for 'HDTV' output on the plug that goes into the 360. If this is switched to on, then you need to connect the red/white audio cables for sound (but i'm using optical so this doesn't apply to me), and the blue/red/green connections are ALL video cables, that can give up to 1080p.

I don't have the inputs on my monitor for these cables though, so I'm hoping there's an adaptor that will allow me to connect these component cables into a DVI-D input. Whether this is possible, I'm unsure.. if it is, I'm still not sure if it will ensure HD, but regardless, it would still allow me to connect my 360 to my monitor at the same time as my pc. Another option if I was to go with standard definition, would be an adaptor for the yellow video cable into the DVI-D input, but I'm more interested n the HD route first.

    Understand my problem? :p

But actually I just realised what that cable is that you linked to. That seems like it will gimme HD on this monitor.. but then I need to connect my pc to the DVI-D. I was gonna steal my GF 8800GT out of the downstairs pc but it doesn't have onboard video ffs :p I coul just grab a cheap card from somewhere to solve the issue.
